Intervention for Human Sexuality Concerns

Sexuality refers to an individual’s habits and preferences in terms of sexual behavior and desire. These  qualities begin development early in life and are influenced by indirect and more direct family messages, abuse/neglect, culture, the media, and, religious influences.  Influenced by multiple factors, sexual expression vary as much or even more than individuals’ preferences for food, hobbies, or entertainment. 

Sexual intimacy can be one of the most satisfying and fulfilling experience in which humans engage. By contrast, it can be of deep concern to many people. An estimated 30% to 45% adults in the United States struggle with sexual problems during their lifetime. Individuals may experience confusion or distress in their sexual or desired sexual behavior. Many of these people experience sexual difficulties  due to multiple reasons including negative feelings, traumatic experiences, or other psychological problems that prevent them from engaging or fully participating in sexual intimacy. Individuals may also experience sexual problems because of other mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety.
